Lipodissolve
What is it?
Deoxycholic Acid is used to break down fat deposits on the face and neck. With these injections, the volume required depends on the existing size of the fat pocket.
A quote will be provided during the consultation. You may need 1-3 vials during the session. 1-3 sessions recommended for best results.
We will be using either:
-
Deoxycholate (DC)
-
Deoxycholate with Phosphatidylcholine (DC/PPD)
How does it work?
Deoxycholic acid is a bile acid that emulsifies and solubilizes dietary fats in the intestine. When injected into subcutaneous fat, deoxycholic acid acts as a cytolytic drug by physically disrupting the cell membrane of adipocytes, causing cell lysis. The destruction of adipocytes elicits a tissue response in which macrophages are attracted to the area to eliminate cellular debris and lipids, which are then cleared by the body. This is followed by the appearance of fibroblasts and observed thickening of fibrous septa. Fat reduction is seen in the treated area, as well as tightening of the overlying skin from neocollagenesis. The results are permanent.
What is it for?
Stubborn deposits of fat that do not budge with traditional weight loss and exercise. The most common areas treated are typically under the chin and on the jowls of the face.
What isn't it for?
General weight loss
